Tomorrow, the Yankees will host a 3 game series against the Boston Red Sox. This will feature the top 2 teams in the AL East and is a pretty important series for both teams.
Game 1: June 6 2017, 7:05 pm ET
Masahiro Tanaka (5-5, 6.34 ERA) vs Drew Pomeranz (5-3, 4.24 ERA)
Game 2: June 7 2017, 7:05 pm ET
C.C Sabathia (6-2, 4.12 ERA) vs Rick Porcello (3-7, 4.24 ERA)
Game 3: June 8 2017, 7:05 pm ET
Michael Pineda (6-3, 3.76 ERA) vs David Price (1-0, 3.00 ERA)
These two teams have only played 2 games against each other so far this season back in early april. The first game was postponed while the next two were taken by the Yanks by the score of 3-1 and 3-0. These games don’t mean much for the upcoming series especially since the Sox are welcoming back David Price for only his third start of the year.
The Sox are a very good team, with a good offense and a solid pitching staff anchored by ace Chris Sale and closer Craig Kimbrel. Here are some of their players distinguishing themselves so far this year.
- Mookie Betts (.264 avg, 9 HR, 17 2B, 33 RBI, 35 R, 9-10 SB)
- Xander Bogaerts (.330 avg, .386 OBP, 35 R, 8-8 SB)
- Chris Sale (84 IP, 119 K, 2.89 ERA, 0.93 WHIP)
- Craig Kimbrel (25.1 IP, 48K, 1.07 ERA, 0.47 WHIP)
On the mend:
The Red Sox are without 3 position players right now, most notably Dustin Pedroia but also Brock Holt and Marco Hernandez. They’ll also be without starters Roenis Elias, Eduardo Rodriguez and knuckleballer Steven Wright as well as relievers Robbie Ross Jr., Carson Smith and Tyler Thornburg.
