Daily Matchup: Sabathia vs Porcello

After losing a tight game last night, the Yankees are going to try to rebound tonight with former ace C.C Sabathia on the mound against last year’s Cy Young award winner Rick Porcello.

C.C isn’t the hard thrower he once was but continued last year’s new found success thanks to his cutter. He started the year with a 2.70 ERA in his first 4 starts, before following that up with 3 starts where he allowed 5 ER or more. That slump didn’t last tho as C.C was able to right the ship and allow 2 runs or less in each of the last 4 times he took the mound.

Porcello has been having a thougher year this year. Trying to build on his 22 win 2016 season, he is currently carrying a 4.24 ERA. He is striking out almost a batter per inning (8.84 K/9) and keeping walks down with a 5.21 K/BB ratio which is excellent. The issue for him comes from the fact that he allows so many hits (96 in 74.1 IP) and they’re leaving the yard at a rate much higher than his carrer average (1.45 HR/9 vs 1.00).

Here are today’s lineups:
